Photographing Distance

About this event

Photographing the Distance presents ten video works by Argentine artist Matilde Marín, as part of her ongoing Pharus Project. Filmed across night skies, coastal architecture, and the shores of Jeddah and Yanbu, the works follow a journey that began in 2005 with the gradual decommissioning of the world's traditional lighthouses. Marín approaches these luminous towers not as navigational instruments but as metaphors for orientation, fragility, and destiny, drawing a quiet line between the plains of Patagonia and the sands of Arabia, and inviting visitors to consider how light and distance shape memory, place, and time.
